\section{Research areas}
\begin{minipage}{\textwidth}
\begin{adjustwidth}{}{1cm}
\textbf{Cavitation and marine propeller noise} - core research theme started during first industrial placement and continued throughout entire career. Resulted in the publication of several journal articles and development of tools in two CFD packages. Currently continues as own research, as well as through ongoing MSc and PhD projects. Contributed to the acquisition of funding through the EU SCALE project as co-PI.
\vspace{6pt}
\textbf{Underwater vehicle hydrodynamics} - resulted from applying knowledge gained during MEng project and consultancy work to underwater vehicle manoeuvring and evolved further during postdoc on underwater glider hydrodynamic performance. Current research involves applying reinforcement learning techniques to control in turbulent environments and future project ideas are under development.
\vspace{6pt}
\textbf{Data-driven methods in computational fluid dynamics} - recent branch of research with so far limited public track record. Mostly focused on internal research on development of reduced order modelling for ship flows and its application to ship and propeller optimisation workflows. One of the ongoing projects is looking at the application of physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to ship wake data and will likely result in at least a conference publication. Through the "exaSIMPLE" consortium (co-PI) the use of data-driven techniques for accelerating CFD is also being investigated.

\textsc{Nov 2023} & EU H2020 "SCALE" (fully-funded PhD position at TU Delft) - contributing to research on propeller optimisation through supervision of a PhD student working development of data-driven prediction tools. Contributed to proposal writing and manages the project internally through MARIN funding. \\
