Plan to change the repository license to AGPL-3.0

I've just sent an email to each person who contributed to this repository regarding the change we're planning for the repo: Changing the license to AGPL-3.0, which allows us to use the new MinIO Admin SDK (which itself changed to AGPL-3.0). The change is being discussed in #522.

This message/thread is just a backup in case you didn't receive an e-mail from me (in this case, please ping me at felladrin@gmail.com so I can send you the email mentioned above).

What are the consequences for pulumi and their minio provider (https://github.com/pulumi/pulumi-minio) ?

Hi,

I had a look inside their go.mod file, it contains "github.com/minio/madmin-go v1.7.5 // indirect”, so that seems fine if they are still apache 2.0 license. Only 2 onwards of the madmin library is agpl 3.0.

I don’t know enough about pulumi and how they integrate the terraform provider with the rest of their product.

In general: only if you derive your software from the one in GPL/AGPL, you run into problem when you have an incompatible license.
Merely calling another binary on the same computer will not lead to issues (there are other licenses for that, see mongodb/elasticsearch/hashicorp bsl/...), only linking/depending on it directly.
