# Submissions NOW OPEN !!!

This year, you can self-nominate as a speakers for one of our panel discussions and/or submit your own emergent session.

Before starting your submission make sure you are familiar with the [OSR formats](/formats.md){:target="_blank"}.

We are also always **looking for volunteers** to help us with the organisation of the OSR activities. Panel Discussion Self-Nominations

**Panel Sessions** are moderated discussions amongst selected speakers and OSR attendees about various relevant topics, spanning across all aspects of open science practices.

You can self-nominate as a speaker for the following **hybrid panel discussions**:
**8:00 GMT-4 July 23, 2023** (Sunday): Topic 1: Telehealth as a tool for open data research and sharing
**14:15 GMT-4 July 23, 2023** (Sunday): Topic 2: Evolution of open publishing (To do or not to do?/Lessons learnt)
**8:00 GMT-4 July 24, 2023** (Monday): Topic 3: Standardization of code
**10:30 GMT-4 July 25, 2023** (Tuesday): Topic 4: Open Data Governance and Infrastructure
**10:30 GMT-4 July 26, 2023** (Wednesday): Topic 5: Large open data repositories: sustainability and global implications of reuse

You can self-nominate as a panelist until July 2 (12pm anywhere on Earth) through this form{:target="_blank"}.

After this date, the nominations will be reviewed by the OSR team based on the experience in the topic and a diversity of speakers, and we will notify the self-nominees in early July.

Emergent Session Submissions

**Emergent sessions** are live discussions among a small group of panel members, mediated by a host and open to audience of the OSR. The discussions may cover more advanced topics related to open-science or EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) issues.

During the OSR attendees can hold **hybrid emergent sessions**.
This year we offer **5 slots**:
**10.30-11.30 (GMT -4) July 23** (Sunday) : OSR: Emergent Session #1
**10.30-11.30 (GMT -4) July 24** (Monday) : OSR: Emergent Session #2
**14.45-15.45 (GMT -4) July 24** (Monday) : OSR: Emergent Session #3
**8.00-9.00 (GMT -4) July 25** (Tuesday): OSR: Emergent Session #4
**14.45-15.45 (GMT -4) July 25** (Tuesday): OSR: Emergent Session #5

**You can request to hold such a session until June 25 (12pm anywhere on Earth) by creating an issue through our github repo [template](https://github.com/ohbm/osr2023/issues/1){:target="_blank"}.**

After this date, the sessions will be reviewed based on their timeliness and interest to the open science audience by the OSR team and we will notify everyone of their assigned sessions in early July.
