The data exchange/communication between the BMC and host/host-components is moved over to PLDM from IPMI at IBM due to security concerns. It is quite possible other companies also moved over to PLDM. We are considering to completely remove inband IPMI support but keep network IPMI (netipmid) optional. I would appreciate your thoughts and concerns, if any, in removing inband IPMI support.
