GitLab support? #852

Thank you @JPustkuchen for the kind words of encouragement Great point. I'll setup a "Feature Request" category in discussions and move it there, but greatly appreciate that you submitted an issue. The most important and appreciated thing is hearing feedback; I'll worry about the admin :-) Yes, GitLab is definitely something we've considered and are considering for the future. We started with GitHub since so much of open source is based here, but excited to expand to GitLab and Hugging Face as well. In transparency, it's not a high priority now since we're focused on getting our v1 in-place this year (I'll share more on this soon and what it entails), but definitely part of our long-term vision. Thanks again @JPustkuchen for sharing this request. It's much appreciated! |

Thank you! That's great to hear. ;) Regarding GitLab you may consider to contact GitLab and ask if they might even be interested in such a feature in core, Another option might also be to ask the Drupal Association, if they'd like this idea for their community. I think they are connected with GitLab, currently integrating GitLab with Drupal.org. Might be interesting to hear about their feedback. |

+1 for GitLab support, also from a Drupal related project. For https://www.drupal.org/project/api_client we've received some community funding that we managed via Open Collective. The features of Polar seems to be more in line with what I envisioned. |

Appreciate it @backlineint. Fondly remember working with Drupal and really like the ecosystem/community - it's been a while since I been involved though. @JPustkuchen & @backlineint re: GitLab/Drupal more broadly, if any of you have a contact in those organizations – I'd love to chat with them about support for the future. In full transparency though, I don't think we'll offer GitLab support within 2024. We're still building out towards our v1 vision with some heavy foundational pieces still outstanding. Once we're at a v1 and the platform is ready to tackle all the use cases we want to serve, I think a natural next phase is expanding support of platforms/payments offerings that our ecosystem desires. Having said that, things can always change and rapidly so. I would love to support your use cases and GitLab too and hope we can in a near future. In the interim, I want to be fully transparent about our priorities and reasoning behind them so I don't BS anyone :) |

@birkjernstrom Thanks, sounds great, still I'd be happier to see this tomorrow :P https://www.drupal.org/association would be the right persons to contact, I think! Might be amazing to sponsor open source development this way! |

Hi and thank you for this super awesome idea!
I was unsure if this should be a discussion, so feel free to move it.
Are you planning to support GitLab in the future? Large open source projects like Drupal use GitLab, so that would be super helpful. Especially in the EU GitLab is quite famous, I think.
Would like to hear about your thoughts and opinion. Thank you once again :)
