I have more than 20 years of professional experience in software development, especially with a focus on enterprise software, IT security and high-traffic websites.
I never thought I would one day develop open source software. I started working on php-sepa, a component for generating SEPA XML files, as part of my bachelor's thesis at a German university in 2017. At the end of my degree, I liked the software so much that I wanted to share it with the world.
In 2022, I wanted to connect two Ubiquiti networks with dynamic WAN IP addresses and wrote a script to establish and keep alive an IPSec site-to-site VPN connection. A good friend with the same hardware setup as me had the same problem. I think we are not the only ones with the problem. So I make it open source for everyone.
Then, in 2023, I wanted to integrate my cloud-connected Ambrogio robot lawn mower in Home Assistant and developed an integration for all lawn mower brands of Zucchetti Centro Sistemi Spa. I fell into the rabbit hole. A few months later, I released HA integrations for Ubiquiti UniFi Hotspot Manager and OctopusNET Sat>IP Server Monitoring.
I look forward to seeing where the journey will take me.
