How to add defaults to added fieldItems in action confirmation dialog?

I'm trying to add a toggle and a button group to the confirmation dialog of an action.

I also want to set defaults for some fieldtypes but it has no effect. I thought that I could use the same known key ('default') from the field types as used in the blueprint yaml files.

Do I miss something here or is it just not possible to set any defaults in an action's confirmation dialog?

Does it work if you do it like this instead?

No, it does not.

I also tried instead of the "protected function fieldItems()" variant both

    protected $fields = [
        'send_mail' => [
            'type' => 'toggle',
            //'field' => [
                'default' => 'true',
                'display' => 'Soll eine Mail gesendet werden?'

        ],
    ];

and

    protected $fields = [
        'send_mail' => [
            'type' => 'toggle',

                'default' => 'true',
                'display' => 'Soll eine Mail gesendet werden?'
            ],
        ],
    ];

without success.
