There are currently implementations of things related to specs, and part of the design isn't exactly following an OCI spec. We discussed in the call today that registry maintainers should write up the particulars of their registry, and if this effort works, I'd be interested to have this kind of writeup for caching for clients too. cc. @reidpr who is also interested in caching.
