Hello, I have very little technical knowledge. I am writing on behalf of a client who has a wire.com enterprise account running on two computers: a desktop running linux ubuntu 21.10 and a Windows 7 laptop. Everything is working fine on the laptop, and everything was working fine on the desktop until last Friday afternoon when my client was unable to initiate a phone call on wire, com. When he tried to click on the phone icon, he received a message that the service cannot access the camera and will not allow the call to go thru. This desktop computer does not have a camera.
My client uninstalled Wire and then reinstalled reinstalled the wire app on Linux from the Ubuntu Software store. He also changed the permissions setting in the Ubuntu Software store to turn on camera (even though the computer does not have a camera). My client then logged in to his wire account on his linux desktop but could still not initiate any phone calls on Wire, receiving the same message as earlier, that the service cannot access the camera and will not allow the call to go thru.
When we submitted a support ticket to wire.com support concerning this problem, we received the following message in response: "The Linux version provided on wire.com/download is entirely experimental and untested. Concretely, this means that the app is not tested by our Quality Assurance team, and we in Support are then unable to troubleshoot. We do though have a very active and supportive Linux community on Github. Even if you're not a developer, we'd encourage you to submit your questions, bug reports or feature requests here: https://github.com/wireapp/wire-desktop.,"
We would welcome any suggestions from this support group as to how to restore the capacity to make outgoing phone calls on my client's wire.com app on his linux computer.
