The ASPRS Bathymetry Working Group (BWG) Wiki is committed to advancing the field of bathymetric lidar and related technologies through a collaborative and community-driven approach 🤝. Our mission is to disseminate valuable resources 📚, establish best practices 🥇, and provide educational content curated by experts, scientists, and data users. Embracing NOAA’s philosophy of “A Rising Tide Floats All Ships,” we aim to enhance understanding, elevate professional standards, and improve data quality for the collective benefit of our community.
This wiki is designed to be a comprehensive resource, benefiting students, technicians, scientists, and professionals globally. By sharing best practices, it supports the broader geospatial and environmental science communities 🌎.
To ensure the accuracy and utility of content, contributors must first be verified by the Admins before adding content. We encourage community members with relevant experience and expertise to become Contributors. The Admins will also monitor new content for accuracy.
Check out the latest Announcements 📣 for important updates and news.
We invite all interested parties to join this collaborative effort. Your support in identifying and prioritizing needs is essential. Please join the ASPRS Bathymetry Working Group and participate in the community discussion to stay informed about the latest ideas and information regarding our wishlist management meetings. Note: Login is required to access the community discussion.
For suggestions or contributions, please contact the BWG Wiki Managers. Numerous existing resources, websites, and papers are distributed across the web. Rather than recreating this content, this wiki aims to facilitate easier access to, and utilization of, these valuable resources with appropriate permissions. The community also requires assistance in translating complex concepts into simple, jargon-free language to help newcomers and peripheral supporters of bathymetric lidar gain a clearer understanding and improve internal communication.
All information will be reviewed by the BWG Wiki admin and the ASPRS Lidar Committee before being opened to the community for comments, concerns, and corrections in our discussion threads. Publishing to the Wiki will follow acceptance by a majority vote of the community during a working group call. Corrections and objections are always welcome!
For ideas on the potential and management of this resource, please refer to the Multibeam Advisory Committee (MAC) hosted ocean mapping community wiki. We appreciate the Ocean Mapping Community and their contributors for setting a valuable example.
