How to tag Minis
As more and more people are submitting Minis to The Mini Index, we're writing down some recommendations for how to properly tag Minis. Properly tagged Minis will be approved faster and help them get found easier. If you submit a bunch of Minis at once, be aware that we try to only approve a handful per creator per day. This helps keep the front page "fresh" and doesn't flood it with a single creator.
All Minis should be tagged with a Use and a Genre. Don't tag Minis with their creator's name.
- Mini- A creature, monster, player character, or other living creature.
- Tile- Floor pieces, walls, etc. that are tiles that connect to each other.
- Building - A whole building that isn't tiled.
- Scatter - Any terrain that doesn't fit into the two above. Rocks, trees, tables, etc.
- Accessory - An accessory to a creature like a weapon, or a general tabletop game accessory like a dice tower.
- Fantasy - Anything in a fantasy setting like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, etc.
- SciFi - Anything science fiction or futuristic.
- Historical - Anything from the past WWII, Civil War, etc.
Various monsters and creatures should be tagged with:
- Name of the creature - The creature's name.
- General type of the creature - Any broad category the creature might fall into. Is it a bird? Does it fly? Is it undead? a monstrosity?
- Locations the creature is generally found - Is it a forest creatures? Underground? from the Abyss? If a user is trying to find good creatures for their players to fight in a certain terrain, they should be able to search that terrain to find this.
Anything that could be described as a player character should be tagged with:
- Overall basic descriptions - Race and Gender.
- Notable accessories - Armor, weapons, and clothes.
- Relevant classes - Not required, but if the Mini was intended for a specific class.
Terrain items have the most flexible requirements for tagging, but in general should be tagged with:
- Location - The ideal location for the item.
- Purpose - What's the intended purpose of the item.
- Other - Anything else that's relevant to the item.
We aren't sure! Definitely submit it, do your best to tag it, and we'll give you feedback or adjust tagging if needed.
