Code Across America 2013

Code Across America is a multi-day, distributed event Feb 22-24 that any municipality or community can join, big or small, beginner or expert. Individuals and groups can Code Across America through virtual and in-person activities around the country. February 23rd is International Open Data Day.
- Publish a searchable, thematic map
- Open civic data
- Develop a plan for an app deployment
- Make a local Open Impact
- Connect with someone in your local government for the first time
- Work on a local open government initiative
- Edit your LocalWiki or stand up a new LocalWiki project!
- Draft a Code of Conduct for Brigade
- Work on Brigade site issues & milestones
- Teach people to social code with GitHub
- Upgrade an old civic league web site to a new one on Word Press.
- Develop a strategic plan for a local brigade
- Do research on procurement where you live. Use CfA Commons wiki organize results and report. Help us understand how to improve access for freelancers & startups
- Do research and analysis around civic technology in your city.
- Take pictures, produce videos, create and curate the online record of your event
- Implement Click That 'Hood for your city.
- Update or rewrite a municipal job description to include skills necessary for digital age (can port from other cities, ex., City of Boston New Urban Mechanics)
- Update or rewrite an RFP to create space for open source and startups.
- Publish an info-graphic or data visualization from municipal data
