Benjamin Oakes edited this page Mar 2, 2013 · 1 revision

There is a special election on March 5, 2013 to fill the vacancy in the Board of Supervisors.

On January 2, 2013, Sally Stutsman resigned from the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, in order to serve in the Iowa House of Representatives. Stutsman's term as Supervisor was scheduled to run through December 31, 2014.

Under Iowa law, a committee of Treasurer Tom Kriz, Recorder Kim Painter and Auditor Travis Weipert had 40 days from the date of vacancy to either appoint a new supervisor or to call a special election. On January 8 the committee decided to fill the vacancy by election.
