COVID-19 stands for Corona Virus Disease. It is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in Wuhan, China in 2019.
SARS-CoV-2 Variants: Different variants and classifications around that can be explored in CDC site here. Variants of interest are as follows (please refer to CDC site for latest on this):
- B.1.526 - First detected in US in Nov2020
- B.1.526.1 - US in Oct2020
- B.1.525 - UK/Nigeria in Dec2020
- P.2 - Brazil in Apr2020
- B.1.617 - India in Feb2021

- B.1.617.2 - India in Dec2020
- B.1.617.3 - India in Oct2020
It's symptoms in humans are as follows at a high level:
Category of Symptoms | Description |
---|---|
More Common Symptoms | Fever, Dry Cough, Fatigue / Tiredness, Breathing discomfort |
Less Common Symptoms | Aches and Pains, Headache, Nasal Congestion, Sore throat, Diarrhoea, Conjuctivitis, Loss of taste or smell, A rash on skin etc. |
Serious Symptoms | High difficulty of breathing or shortness of breath, Chest pain or pressure, Loss of speech or movement |
On average it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days. This may change as we experience very dynamic symptoms across the globe and different waves of infections across the globe are appearing at different geographies.
Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions. Follow advice provided by your local and government health authority. Some steps that can be taken for prevention efforts are as follows:
- Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Maintain a safe distance (ideally at least 1-meter distance) from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Cover nose and mouth when coughing & sneezing with a tissue or flexed elbow.
- Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible. Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
- Isolation of persons traveling from affected countries or places for at least 14 days or as directed by local/state/government authorities from time to time.
- Quarantine if advised.
- If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Additionally, follow latest symptoms and try to protect yourself from those whenever desired.
- It is important to keep up to date on types of symptoms as it may vary / change from time to time.

Based on above data, following insights at workplace can be looked at. It can work as a Predictive Solution to alert the firm or authority.
Solution Area | Capability Description | Type of Input Data |
Face Mask Detection | Ability to indicate whether an individual is wearing face mask or not; based on video, image data analysis and share insights | Image file, Video file, Text file |
Occupancy Monitoring | Ability to determine occupancy levels in a defined space or zone based on threshold defined by authorities. Alert authorities if it reaches threshold or goes beyond the threshold | CCTV file data in Image, Video formats |
No-Go Zone Monitoring and Alerting | Ability to define and set certain areas as no-go zones and alert authorities when individuals are detected. Detection of humans based on near real time feed from input data sources | Image file, Text file |
Health Condition Monitoring | Ability to monitor health data of indivuals on a periodic interval basis and provide alerts based on rules/thresholds set (biometrics and other demographics data can be taken as input based on Govt authority guidelines and to identify body vitals, stress parameters, energy level indicators for the analysis and anomaly detection) | Text file |
Elevated Body temperature monitoring | Ability to identify elevated body temperature beyond a certain threshold set by authorities and alert accordingly | Image file, Text log formats |
Social Distance Measurement Monitoring and Alerting beyond defined threshold | Ability to monitor distance between two co-workers in a zone to reflect zonal characterisation based on data from Smart phone devices and Bluetooth signals | Text file, sensor logs |
