Search in FreeEed Review

1.) Single terms

  • You can type single terms like "John" or "Smith". The review will search multiple metadata fields: Subject, Body, From, To, custodian, etc.

2.) Query syntax examples

  • The query syntax is field-name:value, e.g. Custodian:John. The case is important, "Custodian" not "custodian". Copy the metadata field name verbatim.
  • All the metadata field names are shown on the right of the page for each document.
  • To search for non-empty fields, do
    • fields-name:*
    • For example, to find all documents with automatic summaries, do
    • summary:*
  • You can create complex queries adding AND and OR (use upper case AND and OR.)
  • Example of a search for the date range: Creation-Date:[2000-01-01 TO 2001-01-01]
  • Complex query example: find custodian John with emails from 2000-01-01 to 2002-01-01, you should use
    • Creation-Date:[2000-01-01 TO 2002-01-01] AND Custodian:John
  • Visit this page to learn how to create more complex search queries.
