Tools for Bible Editing
-
BibleEdit is a web based tool for editing Scripture. It supports USFM, and it also can interact with the local installation of ParaTExt. However ParaTExt is not mandatory. This tool might come handy, especially for projects independent of the leading Bible Agencies and Bible Societies, in editing scripture.

MissionAssist provides various services for projects like this. Visit their website for more info.

ParaTExt is arguably the best Bible Editor, but it's distribution is highly restricted to the members of the recognized agencies. From the release of it's next version, 8, there will be a limited version available for anybody to use.
-
Regular text editors. Since USFM is a text based markup, you can use any text editors like Notepad++ or BabelPad. David Haslam has developed a USFM Syntax Highlighter for Notepad++.
