Build site locally

Following steps explain how to build and preview site locally, before you commit and make pull request.

Install Jekyll

Follow Jekyll installation manual.

Install dependencies

Run

$ bundle install

Serve site locally

Change active directory to this repository and run

$ bundle exec jekyll serve

Open browser and go to URL http://127.0.0.1:4000/

When you run command above and you get following error

Can't find gem bundler (>= 0.a) with executable bundle (Gem::GemNotFoundException)

This is RubyGemas and Bundler bug. To remedy this, you need to install Bundler exact version used in Gemfile.lock.

$ gem install bundler -v "$(grep -A 1 "BUNDLED WITH" Gemfile.lock | tail -n 1)"

Jekyll Themes

Your Pages site will use the layout and styles from the Jekyll theme you have selected in your repository settings. The name of this theme is saved in the Jekyll _config.yml configuration file.
